Fail safe …

24/01/2009

I was trying to take a backup of a website i designed on my mac. Seems like there is something wrong with that compression utility and despite repeated attempts, it kept hanging after taking backup of around 7 / 20 MB .
Finally, I decided to just fire up terminal .. hit the zip command and voila ! job done.

Moral : Don’t mess with something that isn’t broken..

This morning as I returned from jogging i thought it might be nice to blog about all the things I do  with my mac, and so I decided to start one. Mostly it will contain as much info i gather about the mac apps that I use and the experiences I have had with my mac.
Anyway, here is the link

Its time for change…

14/03/2007

I have been into computers for about 11 yrs now. Have dedicated a fair chunk of my time for it. Over the course of these years I have been a Windows user. Sure it was great and i could do what i want. But i was always fascinated by linux. The openness of it. The complexity of it. But whatever I ever wanted to do with computers could be done easily with Windows.
And so..for that so called “flexibility” and “user friendliness” i was forced to accept windows’ flaws and their closed source code concept and just work with applications without a clue as to how the application was made in the first place. All those viruses n spyware. For too many years, I have been too damn frustrated with the lack of options when it comes to a OS and a development platform that suited my needs..and lets be honest here Windows does look better visually than other OSs out there.

But now i have seen the light..(so to speak). The Mac seems to be my own computing salvation. Amogh  bought a mac book and i worked with it for a hr or so. And I am convinced that I have finally found the solution to my computing needs. Sure.. even Mac source code is closed but its based on unix and so I can build whatever applications i want and I can figure out how applications work internally.
Dont get me wrong..i dont hate windows. I just feel its time for change and a super upgrade to my computing experience.

Bring on the Mac…
