My friend from college days Arun, who is a teacher at Mithra Academy called me up about a month back and asked if I would like to give a talk on conservation or take some of his students on a nature walk somewhere in the city.
I gladly agreed and after a few meetings over phone and coffee, we decided to do a nature walk in lalbagh.
Here is the blog post with some photos and a small writeup.. http://speaktonature.blogspot.com/2010/07/blog-post.html
Kids are generally more receptive and take concepts such as comfort zones of animals, birds much more seriously than some adults. Even though we covered only a small section of Lalbagh, we had a good time spotting some of the regular birds of that location. The students were excited at spotting various birds and soon realized that lalbagh has more to offer than just a gigantic park experience. Some of them very keen on getting their parents involved as well.
It was a very satisfying experience for me and I hope to do more such nature walks in future.

Several things had more or less kept me away from my camera and photography in general and so I headed to lalbagh last week for a nice walk.
Found these two parakeets, probably at their nest. Just took a picture and moved on as I didn’t want to disturb their activities.

These are pictures from the protest walk attended by me and other bangaloreans. The protest was to create awareness and demonstrate the people’s views that bangalore should not develop at the cost of its cultural heritage and its garden city image.
The protest was specifically aimed at road widening and how it will impact Lalbagh and Nanda Road in south bangalore.
The protest went well and hopefully, this will creeate the necessary awareness and action will be taken to better plan the growth of our city.

Last sunday was a good day in terms of photography. Met amoghavarsha in the morning and after some good south indian breakfast we went to lalbagh for the flower show. I must say that the flower show this year lacked the vibrance of previous years, there just weren’t enough flowers on display and some were poorly watered and maintained.
Even so, I managed to get some good photos from there.

And after tat we went to photograph long billed vultures and egyptian vultures. Although we were able to spot them at a distance, they seemed a bit hard to find when we went a bit further. We had to wait on a boulder out in the open in the afternoon sun, but finally they did show up.
