Most people in India as far as I have seen only watch football or get excited about it once in 4 years during the world cup. During this time, it’s quite common to support the traditional power houses of football i.e brazil , argentina. Also, most people tend to rant about the game..as if it’s second nature to them..yet few play the sport or follow any of the teams consistently. As the second most populated country in the world it’s hard to accept that we can’t produce a squad of 22 people which can represent our country at the world stage. Even from an economic perspective…surely it makes a lot of sense to promote the sport..yet few in roads have been made so far.
Will the day ever come..when I see the Indian national anthem being sung at a world cup and a matched played?? If other nations such as Ghana, Nigeria and Honduras can be there..why can’t we??
One of the greatest players ever to grace the game of football. People talk about Ronaldo, Zidane, Beckham etc.. but this man is truly exceptional. 25 years after making his debut for AC Milan, Paolo Maldini retired yesterday with nearly 1000 appearances for AC Milan and Italy. He never played for any other club.
The football club have already announced that they will retire the Number 3 shirt in his honor. Below are two videos, the first one is a tribute from the greats of football and the second shows the talent and professionalism of this remarkable athlete.
My tribute to the greatest defender ever to play the beautiful game.
When Ronaldinho,Gerrard,Rooney,C.Ronaldo,Ferdinand etc are 38 years old…lets see if they will still be playing at the highest level and that too at the same club.
I was watching football…but became a fanatic after seeing this man play.
This post has been long over due…
What the fuck is wrong with Manchester United. Sure all of us united fans know that we aint exactly the cream of the crop at the moment but why doesnt SAF realize that our squad is as thin as pamela anderson’s thong.
We definitely need quality not only on the pitch but also on the bench. Sure I know that a lot of posts might have been written about SAF and what he has achieved over the years at united, but when reality is staring at him in the face, why the fuck doesnt he do anything about it.
I sure hope they buy owen hargreaves, and what about scholes and giggs…who are both in the twilight of their careers and not to mention SAF himself.
A little practical and realistic thinking is required and I feel it is time SAF moved on. Dont want to talk about replacements and about someone who will have to meet his standards. I just feel that after 20yrs its time to change.
